About Hammeken Cellars

We are a modern and innovative producer of Spanish wines, with a portfolio focused on branded products developed through the understanding of consumers' needs.

Our origins

Nicholas Hammeken's early interest for wine has lead him to dedicate his career and life to his passion. After finishing his studies in Copenhaguen, he collaborated in sales and marketing roles within the wine industry, in France, Germany and the UK.

In 1996 Nicholas decided to start his own venture and so Hammeken Cellars - formerly Vinnico Export - was born. Initially conceived as a non  branded wine trader, their first own wine collection, Montgó,  was launched in 2001. Ever since, the company has seen the succcess of other brands such as Piquitos, Allegranza, Creencia, Gotas de Mar, Pasas or Radio Boka, to name a few. In March 2014, Hammeken Cellars opened a branch overseas, from which it is conquering the US market. In the last years, the company has experienced double digit growth in sales, as well as in employees. Currently Hammeken Cellars one of the most important Spanish wine exporters +1.8 million cases of Spanish wines a year, and is present in +41 countries.

Our philosophy

Our wines gather the best of the Spanish local grapes and traditions, with the winemaking style and techniques of the "New World". The result is a distinctive collection of wines, modern, fruit forward, fresh and easy to understand. A brand new way to understand wine, unknown in Spain, until now.

Plastic Change - Goodwings

In Hammeken Cellars we are concerned about the environment, how our productive model affects us, not only ourselves as species, but the rest of the species that share this wonderful world with us.

That is why we have decided to collaborate with Plastic Change. They raise awareness about the consequences of the increasing plastic pollution of the oceans and the environment in general, working with documentation, information, education and solutions to place plastic pollution on the agenda of the general public, the industry and the political system.

Hammeken Cellars has a preferred hotel booking platform: Goodwings. This platform will allocate part of the cost of the reservation to Plastic Change.

Wine in moderation

Wine has evolved as part of life, culture and diet since time immemorial. As an enduring cultural symbol of fine life, the role of wine has evolved over time, changing from an important source of nutrition to a cultural complement to food and conviviality compatible with a healthy lifestyle.

The art of viticulture and winemaking has also evolved. Nevertheless, in this long historical path, one thing remains unchanged and has never been neglected; the association of wine with gastronomy, history, tradition, origin, local quality products and dignified social settings.

Cultural appreciation of wine reflects the diversity of the wine regions, the savoir-vivre and culinary habits. Quality products incite moderate consumption patterns, as it is only by savouring wine moderately and slowly that its unique complex flavours and character can be fully appreciated and enjoyed.

Trees for the future (TREES)* and I’m your organic

We are increasingly aware of climate change and the need for mitigation. Deforestation is a thread to both people and planet. This is why we have decided to support the UN World Restoration Flagship project Trees for the future, so:

When you buy our wine, I’m your organic, we plant a tree in deforested areas of Africa.

Since 2020 I’m your organic has financed the plantation of 615.000 trees. Until today Trees for the Future has restored 142.000 acres (57.465 ha) which is 5,7 times the size of Barcelona and trained 527 000 farmers in agroforestry and sustainable land use.

*The organisation plants trees and trains farmers in agroforestry and sustainable land use - so that they can grow vibrant regional economies, thriving food systems. As a UN World Restoration Flagship, TREES is recognized as one of the best large-scale ecosystem restoration efforts on the planet. The prestigious Flagship award is part of an effort by the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration to ensure that measurable progress is made on the UN’s environmental goals by 2030.
