Venture into the Vinho Verde Appellation

Vinho Verde is from Portugal, known for its youthfulness.
Back

In the northwest of Portugal, the Vinho Verde Denomination treats us to fresh and vibrant wines. With native grapes such as Alvarinho and Loureiro, these wines capture the essence of the Atlantic, an area traditionally known as Entre-Douro-e-Minho (between the Douro and the Minho).

The region becomes the largest in Portugal, and one of the most extensive in Europe.

This Designation of Origin has a significant Atlantic influence, hence its wines bear a strong resemblance to those produced in Rías Baixas. The climate is mild, with high precipitation, and the soils are primarily granitic. Hence, the character of this wine is fresh, light, and elegant.

Typically, white wines are better known, commonly referred to as "vinhos verdes." The term "verde" relates to youthfulness and freshness. Vinho Verde is renowned for its light, effervescent character and fruity flavors.

At Hammeken Cellars, we enjoy exploring and innovating in our products. For the first time in our history, we are crossing borders, expanding our wine family with our first Vinho Verde, about which you will soon have more information.

We can only tell you that it is fresh and smooth, perfect for enjoying a special occasion.
