Abrigo Edad de Bronce conquers the James Suckling Awards
ABRIGO edad de Bronce 2021 achieves an exceptional score of 92 points in the prestigious James Suckling ranking. This achievement highlights the outstanding quality of our wine.
This wine has a distinctive character because it is made from 100% Garnacha tintorera grapes. The grape itself is unique: with its deep color both internally and externally, it is the only grape with colored flesh. It exhibits aromas of black olives and smoked bacon, and lastly, it is known for its intense flavor.
Garnacha Tintorera is a variety that produces wines with a great intensity of color and a full body, which often, depending on their production, can be rough and with overly present tannins.
The winemaking team at HammekenvCellars has a long history of producing Monastrell wines in the Alicante, Jumilla, and Yecla Designations of Origin. This experience allows us to achieve a balance between the expressiveness of Garnacha Tintorera and the freshness provided by carbonic maceration.
Marcelo Morales Calderón and his team have worked tirelessly, combining traditional vinification from the Almansa Designation of Origin with foreign techniques to achieve a unique flavor and create an "affordable luxury." Through mixed fermentation and 6 months of aging in French oak, we have made the wine elegant, fruity, and very enjoyable to drink.
James Suckling defines it as "Full body with fine, firm tannins. Ample and textured with a core of dark berries and herbs. Focused and flavorful finish with excellent length. Garnacha Tintorera." This reflects our commitment to innovation and quality in our wines.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this achievement!
